A corporate event doesn’t always have to be held in a traditional ballroom environment - it’s time to consider more unique venues.
Creative spaces shouldn’t just be for fashion shows and brand activations. Organisers of conferences, summits and meetings should also think about using slightly more unusual options - regardless of sector.
Because often venue choices are made with an assumption about the attendee demographic. For example, an event within a more traditional sector, with more senior attendees, might want to ‘play it safe’ with a very conventional venue. But it should be remembered that we are all humans, regardless of job title, and therefore we are all excited and interested by something that’s different.
For example, recently our CEO, Joe O’Connell, attended a wine-tasting experience in a crypt - yes, a crypt. The Medieval Crypt in Ely Place, as part of Bleeding Heart Groupe, is a completely hidden gem in the centre of London that you could walk straight past without ever knowing it existed.
And this is just one of many examples of an unusual venue that can surprise and delight guests, whilst exceeding expectations.
That being said, it’s not to say hotel ballrooms don’t have their place. What’s more, there are many incredible unique spaces that sit within the four walls of a hotel that aren’t ballrooms. For example, the Andaz London Liverpool Street is home to a Masonic Temple - a Grade II listed event space with checkered marble floor, original leather and gold thrones and 12 types of marble that cover the temple's walls and columns.
The key is to think about the venue. Don’t just book that same ballroom year-on-year for ease and convenience, think about the corporate strategy behind the event and what could be done to elevate the experience for those attending annually.
We at Black Book are passionate about thinking outside the box and finding spaces that will make an event unforgettable. And our experienced venue-finding team are well-equipped to find you something different and that is sure to not only fit the brief, but also inspire awe among your delegates.
