Hotels

There’s plenty of hotel options in Colombia and many independent and traditional properties. Two of our favourite big brand options are the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara in Cartagena and the Four Seasons Casa Medina in Bogota.

Tips from the Black Book black book

Barranquilla Carnival: Due to its authenticity and grass roots feel it is arguably better than Rio de Janeiro’s carnival, well worth trying to incorporate into your programme

Andres Carne de Res Restaurant:  This legendary steakhouse blows everyone away with its all-out fun atmosphere and eclectic if not surreal decor. Not just a restaurant but a full-on party with entertainers that move around between the tables during the evening.

Rosario Islands: Private Island hire for the day with beach games, beach BBQ and beer shack. Travel to and from in motor cruisers or yachts.

Los llanos horse trek and camp: For the ‘off the beaten track experience’ small groups can take on the role of the Colombian cowboy by taking on a single day or multi-day cattle drive. Learn to set up camp, cook and ride Llanero style. An exhilarating, unique and life-changing experience.
